Qigong with Cris Caivano: July 14 - 20, 2025

How to keep your energy flowing this July and beyond

Here are two of my favorite pictures from Innisfree Garden last Saturday. It was a wonderfully diverse group, including a very yin baby dozing in his carrier while his dad did Qigong, and an extremely well-behaved labrador retriever. (I’m not sure how she slipped past the gate, but it was nice having her tail-wagging energy there.) If you couldn’t join us, you’ll have another chance: On August 30, I’ll be participating in the community day at the garden, offering “Acupressure for Stress Relief”. Check with innisfreegarden.org for details.

July is a busy month for many of us, so please be sure to look at the class schedule, below. As you can see, there won’t be class on Sunday, July 20th or Tuesday, July 22, while I’m at Kripalu. I am teaching at the Millbrook Library that Friday, July 25, which is the final class there this summer.

I take the entire month of August off, but below are some suggestions for how to keep your practice going while I am away: There are a bunch of short videos on my website criscaivano.com to explore. I call them “exercise hor’s d’oeuvres,” the idea being that once you watch, your appetite to move will be stimulated. For longer videos, go to Cris Caivano YouTube. I have posted several full-length classes there, and will add more before our break. You’ll also find a 20-minute daily Qigong workout video, an in-depth beginner level routine for building better balance, and even one for toe flexibility: sandal season is a perfect time to remember to take care of your feet. :~)

Last but far from least, here are six ways to soak up Qi from nature: 1) Breath the air of trees. 2) Walk barefoot on the ground. 3) Watch the sun rise. 4) Watch the sun set. 5) Stand near a large body of water. 6) Gaze at the stars.

Please share this newsletter with anyone you know who might find it helpful.  As ever, thanks so much for your feedback, support, and enthusiasm, both online and in person.  I hope your summer is going swimmingly!

Class Schedule for July:

Please note: There will be no online Qigong class on Sunday, July 20th or Tuesday, July 22nd, as I’ll be teaching at Kripalu. (See below if you’d like to join me there!)

  • Live, in-person/ Zoom Qigong at Millbrook Library: Friday, July 25th, 10 -11AM Open to all, and beginner friendly. Please contact millbrooklibrary.org to register and receive the link if you are joining on Zoom. There will be no classes in August.

  • Harvesting the Energy of Trees, Kripalu. July 20-23, Sunday-Wednesday. There is still room for a few more people to join me and my colleagues John and Mary Platt for four rejuvenating, relaxing days in the beautiful Berkshires. Learning, meditating, practicing Qigong, sharing experiences, and hanging out together in such a gorgeous setting is a true Qi tonic! This year’s course includes some new and interesting elements, including a fascinating new breathing technique to regulate stress, and an intro to “Bagua” or circle walking to build energy. https://kripalu.org/presenters-programs/harvesting-energy-trees-qigong
