Hello Qi Friends! And welcome new subscribers to this newsletter!
Qigong at Innisfree last summer
A week or so into my annual summer break, although I do miss teaching, I appreciate having more time to regroup and reflect. I’m not going anywhere, just enjoying the garden’s harvests, reading, and catching up with friends. I hope you are having a peaceful and spirit regenerating summer too.
While working with the tree qi at Kripalu in July, I was reminded again how wonderful (and powerful) it is to slow down enough to connect to the wisdom and energy of nature and its seasons. According to Chinese medicine, late summer is a peak time to get centered after the action-packed months of summer. As the season turns toward fall, we practice stabilizing, grounding Qigong exercises. They help create a secure energetic foundation to support the unsettling energies we sometimes sense during this transitional season--- or during any time of transition, really.
The energy of late summer is represented by the Earth element. While the energy of the summer season’s Fire element moves outward, Earth energy moves inward, like a nourishing meal. Earth energy allows us to stabilize and get grounded. It supports our efforts to exit the loops of worry and over-thinking that create stress and sap our vital energy.
There’s so much more cool information to be shared and explored around this topic! That’s why I just had to remind you of an opportunity to participate in an event designed to cultivate the Earth energy within you. I warmly invite you to join me at Innisfree Gardens this coming Sunday, August 16th, from 10:30-12 (Click Here). Along with Qigong movements and relaxing flows, we’ll go over two REALLY important acupressure points, including one that offers so many benefits that its nickname is “the Swiss army knife of acupressure points”. I hope to see you then! If you can’t join us, I’d love to hear how your summer is going, and if you’re discovering any new ways to practice and enjoy Qigong.
