Playing Qigong Among the Trees

Hello Qigong Friends!

I am still lit up with summer solstice energy from yesterday’s class under the trees at Innisfree Gardens. I wish you all could have been there! After being rained out the previous month, yesterday’s weather was beautiful, including a brief, refreshing sprinkle of rain that didn’t discourage anyone; we just moved a little deeper under the canopy and kept gonging the qi.

Here are two other favorite moments from the class: a Pileated woodpecker ( the big ones that look like Woody Woodpecker) made a guest appearance and knocked loudly on a nearby tree, exactly when we were knocking on our acupressure points. Then, doing the Monkey Frolics with a group of 20+ people, all of us hopping and laughing like little kids, was exactly the kind of playful, joyous energy of summer that the season helps us cultivate more of.  It was just what the Qi doctor ordered. :~) You’ll have another chance to play Qigong at Innisfree Gardens, on July 11th. (See schedule, below.)

At Millbrook Library, Jen, our wonderful coordinator has suggested we meet out of doors for the Friday Qigong classes during July, weather permitting. I agree whole-heartedly. (See schedule below for details.)

If you are joining me and my co-teachers John and Mary Platt at Kripalu at the end of July, we’ll be practicing outside for much of the three and a half days, working directly with the beautiful trees on the property. I’m really looking forward to it, and encourage you to join us if you can. Write to me if you have any questions. Meanwhile, as some of you already do, treat yourself to practicing Qigong outside whenever practical. It’s how Qigong was created. You’ll be buoyed, supported, and inspired by the beauty of nature all around you.
